Pakistan’s capital market marked a first on November 3, 2026, as Ningbo Green Light Energy Limited joined the Main Board of the Pakistan Stock Exchange, completing the country’s first-ever Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) transaction.
What happened?
The Pakistan Stock Exchange hosted a Gong Ceremony in Karachi to celebrate the listing of Ningbo Green Light Energy Limited (NGLEL), a solar energy company. The listing followed the successful completion of Pakistan’s first SPAC transaction, in which LSE SPAC-I Limited merged into NGLEL.
Key details
- NGLEL was originally identified as the target company of LSE SPAC-I Limited, Pakistan’s first SPAC.
- The business combination was completed through a Scheme of Arrangement sanctioned by the Lahore High Court on September 30, 2026.
- Under the scheme, LSE SPAC-I merged into NGLEL, allowing the solar company to become publicly listed; LSE Capital structured and facilitated the deal.
- The Pakistan Stock Exchange notified the listing with effect from October 29, 2026, with trading on the Main Board commencing that day under the symbol NGLEL.
- Shareholders of LSE SPAC-I were allotted 1.50 NGLEL shares for each share they held, and the opening price was Rs21.06.
- NGLEL operates in Pakistan’s renewable energy sector, providing solar engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), system integration, and operations and maintenance services.
What it means for people in Pakistan
For investors and growing businesses, the listing opens a new route to the public market: a company can now reach the stock exchange by combining with a listed SPAC, alongside the traditional listing path. For households and businesses interested in solar energy, a listed solar firm also brings more public information about a sector tied to energy costs and the shift to cleaner power.
