Hum TV has announced that Humsafar, the drama widely regarded as the most popular Pakistani TV play of the 21st century, will be dubbed into Spanish.
What happened?
The channel, which aired the Momina Duraid production, announced the Spanish dub on social media last week, according to Dawn’s ICON column published on November 1, 2026. The news prompted a swift comment from the drama’s director Sarmad Khoosat, who wrote, “If only there were royalties.”
Key details
- Humsafar aired 15 years ago and became, arguably, the most popular Pakistani television play of the 21st century.
- It was directed by Sarmad Khoosat and starred Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and Naveen Waqar.
- The Spanish dub will take the story to a new, Spanish-speaking audience, extending the life of a drama that already travelled far beyond Pakistan.
What it means for people in Pakistan
A Spanish version puts one of Pakistan’s best-loved stories in front of millions of new viewers and underlines how far Pakistani dramas have travelled since Humsafar first aired.
