Pakistani startup RLabs has won the GOAL Startup Award at the Silicon Valley November Summit in California, a win the government has hailed as a sign of the growing strength of Pakistan’s startup ecosystem. The summit ran from November 2 to 5, 2026.

What happened?

RLabs, a Pakistani startup incubated at the National Incubation Centre for Aerospace Technologies (NICAT) and led by Harris Ahmed, won the GOAL Startup Award at the summit, organised by Plug and Play, a global innovation platform and venture capital firm. RLabs was among 18 startups from around the world selected to pitch their ideas at the summit under Plug and Play’s Global Overseas Acceleration & Learning (GOAL) programme. The summit centred on artificial intelligence and deep tech, featuring live demonstrations and pitches from more than 300 startups across over 20 industry programmes, and brought together more than 3,000 attendees, including founders, venture capitalists, corporate executives and innovation leaders.

Key details

  • RLabs builds extended reality (XR) simulators, synthetic data and machine training tools used to train people and artificial intelligence systems to operate complex equipment.
  • Ahmed, a 2018 graduate of the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), said he had spent the last decade teaching people to operate complex machines in XR, and now uses the same experience to train machine instincts. RLabs plans to launch in the United States soon.
  • According to NICAT, RLabs has been training a proprietary large language model to power a modular, cross-platform simulation engine that cuts development time by 75 per cent.
  • Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja congratulated the team, calling it “a proud moment for our nation” and “a moment of immense pride” for the ministry and its technology innovation arm Ignite.

What it means for people in Pakistan

The award puts Pakistani deep-tech talent on a global stage and shows that startups built in Pakistan’s incubation centres can compete with the best in Silicon Valley. For young engineers and founders, it is a concrete example that world-class work in extended reality and artificial intelligence can start at home. It also strengthens the case for the country’s startup ecosystem as it seeks investment, partnerships and international customers.
